Tailored IDMC support,
independent by design

From charter through close-out, we provide independent data monitoring support with clear separation from the operational team, covering routine safety review, interim analyses and pre-defined stopping decisions across study phases and indications.

The IDMC support portfolio

Independent data centre

Independent statisticians and programmers behind the firewall, with secure data storage and controlled exchange between the sponsor and IDMC.

Central point of contact

A single Metronomia lead coordinates between the sponsor and IDMC members, convening calls, distributing materials and gatekeeping unblinded outputs.

Adaptive design experience

Expertise in early stopping for efficacy, sample-size re-estimation and conditional power, with implementation support and clear guidance for committee members.

Committee management

Contracting, remuneration, scheduling, agendas, meeting facilitation, minutes and action tracking — full operational management across the committee lifecycle.

Charter authoring

IDMC charter development with the sponsor, covering stopping rules, voting procedures, escalation paths and conflict-of-interest declarations.

Data-agnostic integration

Receive SDTM or ADaM data, pull directly from EDC platforms such as Rave, Vault, Viedoc and Clincase, or integrate feeds from central labs, ePRO and imaging vendors into one reviewed IDMC report.

KOL voting members

Access to a network of IDMC-experienced statistics professors and clinical experts who can serve as independent voting members.

An IDMC is only useful if it is genuinely independent

An Independent Data Monitoring Committee protects trial integrity, patient safety and regulatory standing at once, but only if it is structurally and operationally separate from the trial's day-to-day conduct.

  • Airtight separation of oversight from study conduct
  • Independent data flow and gate-kept unblinded outputs
  • Senior in-house biostatistics behind every committee

Our approach

The committee runs independently, but the sponsor never loses sight of it; charter terms, member approval and recommendation review all stay with you.

  1. Charter

Draft and finalise the IDMC charter with the sponsor, including voting procedures, stopping rules, meeting frequency and scope of unblinding.

  2. Convene

Recruit and contract independent members, combining Metronomia statisticians with external KOLs from our voting-member network where required.

  3. Operate

Manage open and closed sessions, blinded and unblinded reports and recommendation tracking. Metronomia remains the gatekeeper for all unblinded outputs.

  4. Close

Hold the close-out meeting and archive all unblinded materials in line with ICH E6.
